Why (Z)engage?

The intention of Zengage Yoga is to check in with the self, connect body to mind, and move through space. With fine tuned awareness, effort and ease, we again begin and engage the Zen.

Make your shape, follow your breath, and (Z)engage with the world around you.

Origin Story:

Everyone loves an Origin Story;

Zengage Yoga originated simply as creative word-play, Brittany and her husband sitting around making up nicknames for things relevant to their lives, and blossomed into her connection with Yoga and the community.

Charlotte, NC born and bred, BE began her yoga journey in 1999 joining her Mom in pop-up classes given at Covenant Presbyterian Church. During her middle and high school years, her involvement in Theatre at Northwest School of the Arts taught Brittany more ways to be mindful of movement and her body. That awareness was further cultivated as she matriculated through the Theatre Arts programs at both UNC-Greensboro and UNC-Charlotte.

After getting married in 2016 Brittany was bit by the yoga-bug once again and this time it was a HOT one. Over the next several years Arrichion, Yoga One, Y2, and Charlotte Yoga were the studios she mostly patronized, as well as, Yoga Landing in Chattanooga, TN and Yoga Lab in Estero, FL. In between all that time Brittany jumped headfirst into the pool of possibility that the yoga world offered.

In the Fall of 2019 she achieved her first 200hr teacher training certificate (Baptiste), followed closely by the gift of time and introspection (COVID), and in the Spring of 2021 Brittany completed a second 200hr teacher training (Ashtanga).

Taking an opportunity to “again begin”; BE has created Zengage Yoga, encourages others to embrace themselves and the world around them, and to “engage the Zen”. Dabbling in Yin – cool, restorative, restful – as well as Yang – hot, power, vinyasa – style yoga movement while weaving authentic messaging and humor into her teaching, Brittany invites everyone to make a shape and breathe.
